Cao Huijun

Associate Professor, School of Fine Arts

Born in Hebei Province in 1976, Cao graduated from Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts Middle School in 1993 and from the Oil Painting Department of Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts in 1997. From 1999 to 2001, he pursued postgraduate studies in oil painting and printmaking at the Central Academy of Fine Arts. He is currently an Associate Professor at Tianjin University of Science and Technology and a member of the Tianjin branch of the China Artists Association.

Cao is engaged in teaching and research on courses such as drawing and color. In 2014, he was recognized as one of Tianjin's "Top Ten Young Artists." His oil paintings have been published in professional journals such as "Chinese Oil Painting" and have been exhibited and awarded in domestic and international exhibitions, with several pieces held in private collections.

His work is characterized by a realistic style, employing realistic techniques to convey the simplicity and elegance of the subject. His paintings exude tranquility and grace, without exaggeration or distortion — embodying a subtle and enduring cultural sentiment that reflects his attitude toward life. He paints subjects that interest him, expressing his passion for art through his work.

Major Works and Achievements:

Oil paintings "Girl in Red" and "Miao Girl" were selected for the 4th Tianjin Youth Art Exhibition (1995).

Oil painting "Rural Narrative" and paper "A Brief Discussion on the Authenticity of Realistic Language" were published in "Northern Art" (1997).

Published "Three Hours to Success in Art Entrance Exams – Color" (2003).

Oil painting "Back" was selected for the Commemorative Mao Zedong Birth Anniversary Exhibition and won First Prize (2004).

Drawing "Bust" was published in "Contemporary Chinese Art – Contemporary Chinese Drawing" (2005).

Watercolor "Still Life" was published in "Contemporary Chinese Art – Contemporary Chinese Watercolor"(2005).

Gouache "Fruit" and printmaking "Old Well" were published in "Art Education" (2007).

Four portrait oil paintings were published in "Chinese Oil Painting" (March 2007).

Oil painting "Harvest" was exhibited at the Jinnan Sketch Exhibition and won Third Prize (September 2008).

Oil painting "Autumn Fruit" was selected for the Tianjin Oil Painting Biennale (January 2009).

Oil painting "My Chinese Cabbage" was published in "Chinese Oil Painting" (2012).

Oil painting "Fish" was selected for the 8th Tianjin Youth Art Exhibition and won the Bronze Prize (2013).

Oil painting "My Chinese Cabbage" Series No.5 was selected for the Tianjin Higher Education System "My Chinese Dream" Art Exhibition and won Third Prize (2013).

Oil painting "Resting" was selected for the "12th National Art Exhibition – Tianjin Exhibition" (2014).

Oil painting "Returning at Dusk" was selected for the Tianjin Oil Painting Biennale (2015).

Gouache "Old Corn" was selected for the Tianjin Youth Art and Calligraphy Exhibition "Art & Dreams" and won Third Prize (2016).
