CPC College of Art and Design Conference Elects New Party and Discipline Inspection Committees

On the afternoon of September 24, the Communist Party of China College of Art and Design Conference was held in the auditorium of Area C of the Main Building on TUST's Hexi Campus. The conference elected new members of the college Party Committee and Discipline Inspection Committee. All full Party members in the college attended, and probationary members attended as nonvoting participants. Fan Mengnan, deputy director of the Organization Department of the TUST Party Committee, attended on behalf of the university Party Committee to oversee the election. Cang Shijian, deputy chair of the TUST Committee of the China Association for Promoting Democracy and vice dean of the college, attended by invitation. Zeng Zhaoye, secretary of the college Party Committee, chaired the conference.

The conference opened with the national anthem.

On behalf of the CPC College of Art and Design Committee, Zeng Zhaoye delivered a work report titled Pioneer Leadership and Determined Progress Toward Doctoral Program Development and Academic Excellence.

The report reviewed the Party Committee's work since 2021. Over the past five years, the college's Fashion and Accessory Design program was selected as a national first-class undergraduate program, and two courses were selected as national first-class undergraduate courses. Design Studies entered the top 40 percent of the ShanghaiRanking Best Chinese Subjects Ranking and, for the first time, received a Category C result in the fifth national disciplinary evaluation. The college secured more than RMB 20 million in research funding and one National Social Science Fund of China project in art studies. A student team won a national gold award in the China International College Students' Internet Plus Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, and a volunteer project was named one of the country's Best Volunteer Service Projects under the Four 100 program.

The report set four priorities for the next five years: strengthening Party building and maintaining the correct direction of education; deepening teaching reform and improving talent development; expanding interdisciplinary integration and seeking new progress in disciplinary development; and upgrading facilities and educational conditions.

The report called on Party members among faculty and students to study and implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress, and decisions of the university Party Committee. It also called for coordinated work on disciplinary development as TUST builds a high-level research university with distinctive strengths across multiple disciplines.

On behalf of the CPC College of Art and Design Discipline Inspection Committee, Xue Meiru delivered a work report titled Strengthening Political Oversight and Discipline to Support a High-Level College of Design. The report reviewed the committee's work over the past five years in political oversight, integrity risk control, enforcement of conduct and discipline, and accountability. It identified stronger political oversight, integrity education and professional development for discipline inspection personnel as priorities for the next five years.

The conference discussed and approved the draft election procedures; the candidate lists for the new Party Committee and Discipline Inspection Committee; the lists of the chief vote supervisor and vote supervisors; and the designated chief vote counter and vote counters.

By secret ballot, the conference elected seven members to the new CPC College of Art and Design Committee and three members to the new Discipline Inspection Committee.

The conference closed with The Internationale.

After the conference, the two newly elected committees held their first plenary meetings. Zeng Zhaoye was elected Party Committee secretary, Fan Aichun deputy secretary, and Xue Meiru secretary of the Discipline Inspection Committee. Responsibilities were also assigned among committee members.

The conference took place as TUST began its 15th Five-Year Plan, concluded Pioneer Program 1.0 and prepared Pioneer Program 2.0. The college identified the next five years as a critical period for reform and disciplinary development. Party members among faculty and students will work together to strengthen the discipline and support TUST's development as a high-level research university with distinctive strengths across multiple disciplines.
