On May 8th, the 'Young Art Pioneers' academic salon, hosted by College of Art and Design, was successfully held in Tianjin University of Science and Technology. This event focused on the theme of 'Value-Oriented Design Innovation and Management,' with Associate Professor Bai Renfei from College of Mechanical Engineering at Tianjin University of Science and Technology as the keynote speaker, and Assistant Professor Ren Chang, Deputy Director of the Performance Department, serving as the academic host. The event was attended by Party Secretary Zhu Lili, Vice Dean Cang Shibian, over 30 key faculty members, and graduate representatives who engaged in in-depth discussions on cutting-edge theories and practices in the field of design.
Professor Bai Renfei holds a Ph.D. in Design Studies from Tsinghua University, is a university-level teaching excellence awardee, and a core member of both national first-class undergraduate major construction teams and Tianjin municipal teaching teams. He has a solid theoretical foundation and extensive teaching and practical experience in design innovation and management.

Professor Bai stands at the forefront of interdisciplinary research, deeply analyzing the value logic and paradigms of design innovation through the integration of theory and practice, providing crucial insights for the cultivation of design talent and the development of disciplines. He begins with Thomas Kuhn's 'paradigm' theory and Roberto Verganti's 'design-driven innovation' theory to systematically explain the underlying logic of design innovation. In practice, his team's 'Binhai Impressions' brand project employs five strategies—asset reconstruction, value reshaping, and scenario storytelling—to empower Tianjin's 'Rongtong Smart Ecological Farm,' offering replicable design solutions for rural revitalization.

The 'Green Art Vanguard' academic salon highlights College of Art and Design's pioneering exploration in design education. This event prompted the attending teachers to deeply reflect on the transformation of design education, inspiring them to take on the mission of the 'Vanguard Plan' and create distinctive achievements in areas such as cultural heritage, intelligent design, and sustainable innovation, providing continuous momentum for high-quality development in the field of design. In the future, the college will continue to build an integrated platform that combines interdisciplinary collaboration, industry-education integration, and scientific research integration, led by the 'Vanguard Plan,' to contribute wisdom and solutions to align design innovation with contemporary needs.
