The Department is the forefront of the education and teaching reform of our college. It has been set up for nearly 30 years. It has been undertaking the teaching task of the basic courses of the first-year undergraduates in our college, and has formed a pattern of both modeling basis, humanistic basis, thinking basis and aesthetic basis with the training idea of "broad aperture and thick foundation". It has laid a solid foundation for the development of the college's professional construction and personnel training.
Training objectives: The Foundation Department adheres to moral cultivation as the fundamental task, and aims to cultivate innovative design talents with comprehensive development of moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic and labor, systematic mastery of art creation, art criticism, art design, art research and other knowledge, theories and skills, and humanistic spirit, scientific spirit, innovative spirit and high cultural accomplishment.
Faculty: The Foundation Department has a well-structured and strong team of teachers, who have graduated from Tsinghua University, Nankai University, Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts, Xi 'an Academy of Fine Arts and other well-known colleges and universities, and play a leading role in professional construction and academic research. Teachers generally have high ideological and artistic quality, rich teaching experience, strong creative ability, reasonable and uniform structure of professional title, age and educational background, forming a relatively ideal echelon level. There are 9 teachers in total, including 7 associate professors, 1 professor, 1 lecturer and 4 tutors for postgraduate students. With the deepening of education and teaching reform, the Ministry of Basic Education has achieved fruitful teaching and scientific research results. Many teachers have won gold, silver, bronze and excellence awards at major international and national art exhibitions. A number of teachers have won various honorary titles, and there is one Tianjin propaganda culture "five in a batch" talent, one Tianjin young and middle-aged backbone innovative talent training program, and one school-level famous teacher. He has completed more than 20 national and provincial social science projects, published many monographs and textbooks, and published more than 70 papers.
Teaching research: The basic department pays attention to modeling, color basis, sketch, general training of design thinking, introduction to design, and enlightenment of humanistic consciousness of professional writing in the course teaching. In the teaching process, we organize the selection of outstanding students' homework, carry out the exchange of courses, hold special exchange meetings or course completion exhibitions, and realize the integration and transformation of the first-year skills training to the direction of humanities and general education, and make outstanding contributions to the aesthetic education of campus culture.
Teachers and students have won awards: The teachers of the Foundation Department have led the students to actively participate in various discipline competitions, and guided the students to win many national and municipal awards such as "China Internet + College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition". The teachers have won the "Milan Design Week - Excellent Works of Teachers and Students of Chinese University Design Discipline", "China Good Creativity and National Digital Art Design Competition" and other excellent instructor awards.
